Job description

onsemi is seeking a self-driven and motivated professional to join their process engineering team, located in Burlington, Ontario, Canada. As a Process Engineer, you will have the opportunity to be involved to develop and to continuously improve processes used to manufacture advanced 3D stacked miniaturized packages for the medical device industry. The Process Engineer will be central to providing support for the sustained stability of the products that are manufactured.

The packaging fabrication facility operates a 2 shift operation (Days/Afternoons) and the process engineers are required to support off shift coverage when required above the regular day shift. The work environment at the Burlington facility operates in a team based philosophy with operations, R&D, and quality, with the process engineers defined as process owners with full authority and accountability to deliver, meet and exceed our customer’s satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Process Control and Monitoring

* Technical ownership of assigned processes, documentation, and metrics

* Develop and monitor SPC, CpK, and yield measurements

* Maintain up to date understanding of process capability, capacity, and standard hours.

* Work cell leader in maintaining communication, training and awareness of metrics and achieved results.

Production and Engineering Support

* Carry out failure analysis on non-conforming materials to determine disposition and identify the root cause and corrective actions required

* Assist with troubleshooting system / process / equipment issues to determine identify the root cause of out of control or breakdown situations and determine necessary remediation

New Product and New Technology Introduction

* Assist with the introduction of new products and technology through active involvement in the implementation and gating process

* Maintain and share awareness of industry trends.

* Identify areas of improvement and provide solutions that meet business needs

* Maximize product quality, yield, process utilization, uptime, and throughput

* Reduce rework, cost of non-quality, cost of production, setup, and changeover and cycle time

* Implement preventative actions to eliminate non conformances

* Define, lead, and implement improvement projects of 3 – 9 month scope.

Qualifications

* A Bachelor degree is preferred in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering

*Consideration will be given to applicants that have a technical qualification (but non-Bachelor) provided sufficient understanding and experience can be demonstrated.

* A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience is preferred in a process engineering role for SMD assembly with experience in one or more of the following processes; wire-bond, SMT placement, molding, or dicing.

*Demonstrated track record of establishing processes and lead teams for production ramp ups for new products.

*Ability to understand and implement statistical control and lean six sigma methodologies

* Ability to deliver detailed and quality results under constrained timelines

Preferred:

* Knowledge of surface mount assemblies, wirebond, compression molding as used in SIP module and MCM fabrication devices are an asset

* Familiarity with wire-bonder, molding processes, and dicing
