Job description

The Staff Pharmacist plays a critical role in the daily operations of this clinic-based specialty pharmacy, delivering high-quality pharmacy services and supporting the clinic’s healthcare team. Responsibilities include dispensing medications, providing clinical services, ensuring regulatory compliance, and participating in patient care planning.

Position Description

This position also supports pharmacy operations, inventory, clinic order verifications, and collaboration with other business units. The role is Monday to Friday, daytime hours — offering an excellent work-life balance with no evenings or weekends required .

  • Lead the daily activities within the pharmacy to ensure seamless service delivery and alignment with all provincial, federal, and internal compliance requirements.
  • Execute all core pharmacist functions, including data entry of prescriptions, clinical dispensing, one-on-one patient counselling, therapy reviews, and ensuring appropriateness and accuracy in medication use.
  • Offer a broad scope of clinical support services, such as modifying prescriptions, extending refills, administering injections, and prescribing where permitted under Ontario’s pharmacy regulations.
  • Use pharmacy management software and POS systems to process transactions and ensure medication claims are submitted accurately and efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve coverage issues by working closely with third-party insurance providers, benefit coordinators, and support programs.
  • Act as a liaison between patients, prescribers, clinic personnel, and support services to streamline access to medications and financial coverage.
  • Maintain detailed, up-to-date digital and paper-based records for each patient, ensuring medication profiles reflect all health considerations, interactions, allergies, and pharmacy interventions.
  • Collaborate with inventory management staff to identify and resolve stock discrepancies, ensuring all medications and supplies are accounted for.
  • Proactively identify workflow enhancements or process adjustments to improve accuracy, safety, and overall patient care delivery.
  • Ensure all clinic-supplied medications and therapeutic items are assembled and packed precisely to meet patient and clinic specifications.
  • Complete final checks of all outgoing prescriptions and related supplies, verifying integrity, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Supervise the fulfillment process for patient orders to ensure proper handling from receipt to delivery.
  • Monitor the handling of temperature-sensitive medications, ensuring proper cold chain management across all touchpoints.
  • Review and confirm inventory transfers between sites, ensuring accuracy in documentation and physical product reconciliation.
