Job description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across various clinical and non-clinical roles. We provide acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million, expanding to 2.2 million with regional and national services.

To apply for this position, you must have a live pin with the NMC UK.

The shift pattern for this role is Monday – Thursday 08:00 – 17:30, Friday 08:00 – 14:30.

Day Surgery and GGH theatres are fast-paced environments where collaborative working is essential. The successful candidate may work in multiple areas during their shift. Both units promote ongoing personal and professional development.

You will be a First Level Registered Nurse trained in General Nursing or Adult Nursing. Experience in a Surgical Specialty is desirable, but training will be provided to become a skilled team member with opportunities to rotate as needed. This role supports the 12-bedded overnight surgical ward during daytime hours. You are expected to provide high standards of Nurse-led patient care, supported by colleagues, Charge Nurse, and Senior Charge Nurse.

You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care, adhering to standards and protocols to deliver quality service. Support for expanding your knowledge and skills will be provided by departmental practice development staff. The ability to work independently and as part of an integrated team is required. Additionally, engagement in multi-site working within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde may be necessary to meet service needs.

Evidence of current NMC registration is required prior to start date as part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s pre-employment checks. Please note that due to high application volumes, this advert may close before the closing date.
