Job summary

Quora is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to define the technical future of its recommendation ecosystem. You will own the technical direction for feed ranking and retrieval, lead high-impact modeling bets, and pioneer the integration of LLMs and generative models across the product.

You will scale notification and digest surfaces, build the tooling that empowers the engineering organization, and mentor teammates while shipping high-velocity AI-powered features.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software development experience in machine learning.
• 4+ years building and optimizing Home Feed recommendation systems for social media.
• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science.
• Deep knowledge of recommender stack: candidate generation to multi-objective optimization.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for Quora’s home feed recommendation systems.
• Lead high-impact projects across the recommender stack from generation to ranking.
• Drive online experiments to improve engagement and content quality.
• Own ML systems end-to-end: data pipelines, feature engineering, training, deployment.
• Mentor engineers and shape AI-assisted development practices.
