Job summary

Project X Ltd. is seeking a Staff-level software and ML engineering professional for an embedded, client-facing engagement in Toronto. You will design and build production integrations between AI agents, enterprise APIs, and orchestration frameworks to enable agent-driven business workflows.

The role requires fluency in LLMs, agent orchestration and MCP, with a focus on reliability, security and scalable design. This position sits between Senior and Principal levels and is client-facing.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software, ML or AI engineering experience.
• Production experience building LLM-based applications and agentic systems.
• Experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol).
• Advanced Python development with production practices (testing, CI/CD, Git).
• API development and integration; distributed systems and event-driven patterns.
• Experience deploying and operationalizing ML models in production.
• Ability to design guardrails, validation and failure-handling for AI workflows.
• Strong communication in embedded, client-facing environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement production integrations between AI agents, enterprise APIs and systems.
• Build production-grade services enabling agents to invoke tools and perform business actions.
• Connect client automation APIs to an agent orchestration layer and third-party agents.
• Integrate LLM-based agents with internal/external services using MCP and related patterns.
• Contribute to agent-to-agent and agent-to-tool communications.
• Build for reliability with validation, error handling, retries, logging and security.
• Participate in architecture and system-design decisions and implementation.
