Join the Kardium team and help improve the lives of millions worldwide. We have developed a groundbreaking medical device for diagnosing and treating atrial fibrillation, a common heart rhythm disorder that can lead to stroke, heart failure, and other complications.

Our mission is to deliver the best treatment for atrial fibrillation. We have created The Globe Pulsed Field System with a talented technical team, offering unique and customer-valued differentiators in the market. We collaborate with key opinion leaders who are already using our system and help tell our story.

Having completed our pivotal clinical study, we are now focusing on regulatory approvals and launching our product. This milestone marks a significant step in bringing this innovative technology to patients.

We are excited to add a Mechanical Engineer to our team. In this role, you will:
  • Improve current product designs and develop new manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Design novel medical devices with a hands-on approach to prototyping and detailed mechanical design
  • Transform concepts into final designs

This position is a hybrid work arrangement based in Burnaby, BC.

Meaningful work you will be a part of

Your responsibilities include:

  • Gathering and clarifying design input requirements
  • Brainstorming and evaluating concepts, building proof-of-concept models
  • Developing prototypes for testing
  • Designing machinery and jigs for manufacturing
  • Supporting the transition from design to manufacturing, including risk management and regulatory support
  • Creating and maintaining engineering documentation
  • Occasional travel within and outside North America
  • Mentoring junior engineers and designers
  • Leading or contributing to design reviews
  • Supporting problem-solving and innovation as a technical resource
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams
What you bring to the team

We value a collaborative environment built on trust and respect. To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
  • At least 7 years of mechanical design experience, preferably in medical devices or regulated industries
  • Experience in bringing products to market and developing design/testing requirements for medical devices
  • Proficiency with precision mechanics, machine shop tools, and software like SolidWorks
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards such as ISO 13485, FDA QSR, and risk management processes
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers
  • Understanding of manufacturing techniques
  • Excellent communication and technical documentation skills
  • Ability to manage changing priorities
Compensation

The total annual cash compensation range is CAD 110,000 – 151,000, including base salary and RRSP contributions. Compensation will be adjusted based on experience, qualifications, and organizational needs.
