Job description

Location: Ottawa, Ontario (Hybrid: 2 days remote, 3 days in office)

In this position, you will have the opportunity to work with a world-class IC development team based in Stansted, UK and Ottawa, Canada, with a track record of success in China, the US, and the rest of the world. We develop transimpedance amplifier (TIA) and laser driver (LD) ICs for applications up to 200G, that are fundamental to the growth of datacenters, 5G wireless, and fiber to the home. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Technical Design Engineering, you will work with the existing team on the development and design of high-speed IC products, from initial concept through to volume production.

Job Summary:
As the Staff Engineer, Analog Design, you will be a trusted member of the core team who has a deep and intuitive level of expertise in the technicality of circuit and block design. You will continuously look to improve overall architecture and be able to contribute to chip design projects running across teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality designs within specified timelines which meet the required specifications defined by Marketing/Product Definition.
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams (marketing, sales, applications, validation, reliability, and product/test engineering) to deliver IC Products.
  • Take on full ownership of significant subsystems including evaluation of specs, design and simulation of the circuits, supervision of the layouts, documentation, and presentation of design performance reports.
  • Lead critical module developments.
  • Proactively and continuously work to innovate and improve the overall architecture.
  • Work closely with the Validation engineers to ensure the simulated design performance matches with lab measurements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant field.
  • 2-5 years of relevant industry experience in Analog IC design.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and an ability to excel in a team environment.
  • Proven ability to communicate and present complex concepts in a clear and professional manner.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Deep and intuitive understanding of CMOS/BiCMOS analogue circuit design practice.
  • RF (10GHz +) analogue circuit design experience.
  • Experience of RF/Analog layout techniques (Floorplan, routing parasitics, matching, ESD, crosstalk, IR drop, etc.) in order to guide and review layout development.
