The Staff Engineer is the go-to technical mastermind for a key product area, making sure everything runs smoothly, is built the right way, and stays on track with top-notch architecture. They lead the charge, working alongside Principal Engineers to bring big strategies to life while also mentoring and guiding all levels of engineers to keep everyone on the cutting edge.

Their influence is felt everywhere, from big-picture improvements to hands-on guidance. By staying plugged into the technical pulse of the product area, the Staff Engineer spots potential roadblocks early and steps in with smart solutions, making sure the team delivers excellent, high-quality results.

They’re the technical compass for the team, offering expert advice on architecture, tech choices, and project planning for more complex or high-impact deliverables. What You’ll Do
As a Staff Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in defining technical strategy for entire product area, ensuring system health, and mentoring engineers to push boundaries in innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Own the architecture and technical vision for a designated product area, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Cross-Team Influence: Act as a trusted advisor across multiple teams, fostering collaboration and driving cross-functional technical decisions.
  • Scalability & Innovation: Design and implement high-availability, low-latency distributed systems that handle millions of transactions.
  • Hands-On Engineering: Guide teams in best practices, code quality, and efficient development—without being just a solo contributor.
  • Process & Strategy Alignment: Ensure engineering efforts align with business priorities, providing clarity on trade-offs and risks.
  • Coaching & Mentorship: Empower engineers through technical guidance, feedback, and structured mentorship to accelerate their growth.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and resolve technical bottlenecks, drive process automation, and enhance overall developer experience.
  • Communication & Transparency: Keep stakeholders informed on technical progress, challenges, and solutions while fostering a culture of openness and accountability.

What Makes You a Great Fit

Technical Excellence

  • Deep expertise in software engineering, with strong backend skills (Java SE based micro service using Downwizard build on Gradle. and frontend experience (React, Angular using TypeScript).
  • Proven track record of designing and deploying large-scale, high-performance systems.
  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture, event-driven systems (Kafka, Kafka Streams), and cloud-native solutions (AWS/GCP/Azure).
  • Experience optimizing databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL)
  • Solid grasp of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, observability (Datadog, Lightstep, Prometheus and Vector), and infrastructure automation.

Leadership & Influence

  • Ability to align multiple teams to a shared technical vision and strategy.
  • Comfortable making high-impact architectural decisions and effectively communicating trade-offs.
  • A track record of mentoring engineers, fostering talent growth, and leading technical discussions.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to technical challenges.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, engaging with Architecture-Engineering, Product, UX, and Leadership teams.
  • Ability to distill complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
