Job summary

Samsara is seeking a Senior/Staff Embedded Software Engineer to develop firmware for millions of devices across industrial customers. You will evaluate hardware choices, bring up new platforms, and own drivers, bootloaders, and device management layers.

The role emphasizes low-power design and cross-team collaboration to deliver robust, scalable solutions. We value hands-on hardware/software expertise, cross-functional leadership, and the ability to ship fast while maintaining quality.

Qualifications

8+ years building firmware for resource-constrained systems.
Fluency in C and ability to read linker maps and traces.
Experience bringing up new boards and platforms.
Knowledge of SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, ADC interfaces.
Ability to design low-power firmware and manage hardware interaction.

Responsibilities

Shape hardware choices and participate in reviews with electrical engineers.
Bring up new boards and prototypes from virgin silicon.
Own drivers, bootloaders, firmware updates, and core management layers.
Design for ultra-low power and long device life.
Collaborate with product, full-stack, mobile, and QA teams to ensure data integrity.
Set high engineering standards and mentor teammates.
