Job description

The Staff Cafeteria Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the staff cafeteria within an organization. This includes managing cafeteria staff, ensuring high-quality food service, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards, and fostering a positive dining experience for employees.

Starting Rate: $23.79 per hour

We recognize tenure through our compensation. Hourly rates increase after six months and annually up to three years. At three years, the pay rate for this role would be $28.28.

Job Duties Include:

  • Supervise, train, and support all Staff Cafeteria Attendants and Cooks by coaching and developing to maintain and exceed standards.
  • Participate in monthly menu creation and development of standards.
  • Understand daily operations and anticipate upcoming events in the cafeteria.
  • Assist in overseeing food preparation, cooking, and ensuring compliance with recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards, especially in the absence of the Staff Cafeteria Chef.
  • Review staff feedback with the Staff Cafeteria Chef and address concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Understand the financial objectives of the restaurant and hotel to ensure long-term profitability.
  • Monitor food storage, handling, and preparation to uphold safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of kitchen equipment and facilities for cleanliness and proper functioning.
  • Address food safety issues promptly, involving management and taking corrective actions as needed.
  • Implement initiatives to improve the dining experience and employee satisfaction.
  • Maintain cleanliness and standards across all aspects of the staff cafeteria, including condiments, buffets, vending machines, table settings, ambiance, and overall flow of the dining area.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience in a fast-paced cafeteria environment.
  • Valid Food Safety Certification and strong knowledge of food handling and safety regulations.
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs throughout the shift.
  • Flexible schedule including various shifts, times, and days, as the operation runs 7 days a week.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to manage and motivate a team effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with self-motivation and effective decision-making abilities.
  • Basic understanding of budgeting and financial management principles.
