As a Staff Backend Engineer at Inworld AI, you will contribute directly through technical expertise, ideas, features, and system improvements for our external product offerings.

This is an individual contributor-focused role. We seek someone passionate about making direct technical contributions.

What you’ll do

• Collaborate with Product Managers, ML Engineers, QA, and others to identify, refine, and prioritize impactful projects.
• Design, develop, test, and deploy services, features, and improvements.
• Implement logging, monitoring, dashboards, alerts, documentation, and runbooks to ensure system operability and confidence.
• Participate in scaling our services to accommodate increasing customer demand.

Expected experience

• Strong programming skills in a statically typed backend language such as Go, Kotlin, Java, or Rust.
• Experience deploying cloud-based services capable of handling hundreds of QPS or more.
• Proficiency with relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Hands-on experience with caching (Redis or Memcached), messaging systems (Queues, Pubsub), data pipelines (Flink, Beam), and cloud storage.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and be regarded as a trusted team member.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with analytics or timeseries databases such as ClickHouse, Timescale, or InfluxDB.
• Experience with OpenTelemetry, including usage and implementation support.
• Proficiency in C++.

The base salary range for this full-time position is C$150,000 - C$240,000. Total compensation includes equity and benefits. Salary within this range depends on location, experience, competencies, and business needs. The range is subject to future adjustments.
