Job summary

eBay is building a new Toronto-based integration team and seeks a highly hands-on backend engineer who can define architecture, write production code, and drive execution across multiple stacks and geographies. You will lead technical direction for platform integrations, collaborating closely with engineering teams to deliver scalable services.

You will influence system design, maintainability, and best practices while operating in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.

Qualifications

• Extensive backend experience with Java.
• Proven ability to lead technical architecture and make sound design decisions.
• Experience building or integrating distributed systems and service-based architectures.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical architecture for a marketplace integration team, from early concept through implementation.
• Write and ship production code; this role is heavily hands-on.
• Drive architectural discussions, design reviews, and PR reviews across integration workstreams.
• Translate ambiguous business goals into clear, scalable technical solutions.
• Partner with engineering teams to integrate services across platforms and tech stacks.
• Help define how eBay capabilities can be exposed as services for other platforms and future integrations.
• Influence engineering best practices around system design and maintainability.
