Job summary

Robots & Pencils seeks a Staff AI Builder to lead design and delivery of AI/ML systems. You will own end-to-end architecture, define AI patterns, and drive reliability, security, and scalability across the organization.

You will work as a technical leader on a cross-functional team, shaping AI architecture, model development, and integration challenges. This role demands ownership, craft, and measurable impact through production-grade systems.

Qualifications

• Experience shipping GenAI/LLM-powered systems in production.
• Hands-on depth in agentic AI: reasoning loops, tool calling, multi-agent orchestration.
• Practical RAG expertise: embeddings, vector databases, re-ranking.
• Familiarity with observability for LLM systems: golden datasets, LLM-as-judge, tracing.

Responsibilities

• Design and build agentic workflows across single- and multi-agent architectures.
• Lead model development, optimization, and integration within enterprise systems.
• Establish engineering standards and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with product, design, and delivery teams.
