Job description

Brief Description:


The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing financial reports to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. This role ensures accurate financial record-keeping, compliance with GAAP standards, and supports month-end and year-end close processes. Additionally, the Staff Accountant plays a key role in managing fixed assets, vehicle fleet operations, and driving process improvements to enhance accounting efficiencies across departments.



Detailed Description:



  • Prepare account reconciliations, journal entries, and other month-end tasks to meet reporting deadlines.

  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

  • Manage the organization's vehicle fleet, including purchasing, selling, and lease scheduling.

  • Oversee fixed assets, including processing requests, setup, disposal, and inventory counts.

  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations by maintaining accurate records and documentation.

  • Identify and champion improvement opportunities to enhance the company's financial performance.

  • Assist with the preparation and documentation for external quarterly and annual audits.

  • Examine accounting records, including financial statements, to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP standards.

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members within the accounting department.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with the global accounting team.



Job Requirements:



  • Strong accounting or finance background with knowledge of GAAP principles.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong systems skills.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively across departments.



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.

  • 2+ years of corporate accounting experience.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience in fixed asset management and lease accounting.

  • Knowledge of SOX compliance and financial audits.

The Staff Accountant requires the ability to work in a time sensitive, high visibility role while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor when adversity is encountered. Work is primarily in a climate controlled / office environment with minimal safety / health hazard potential. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, or walk with occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending and frequent near vision use for reading and use of computer, telephone, and other office equipment.
