Job summary

David Aplin Recruiting’s client, a Vancouver-based public accounting firm, seeks a Senior Accountant in Audit to join the Public Company Assurance team. The role targets a CPA with public company audit experience who will grow technical assurance skills while taking on greater responsibility across engagements and client relationships.

You will prepare and review audits, reviews, and tax engagements for public company clients, mentor junior staff, and work closely with Managers and Partners on

Qualifications

  • CPA designation required
  • Approximately 2–4 years of public accounting experience
  • Minimum 2 years of public company audit experience
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS
  • Familiarity with Canadian Auditing Standards and public company assurance requirements
  • Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements and audit working papers
  • Ability to lead or take ownership of audit engagements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a client-service environment

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review audit, review, and tax engagements
  • Work primarily with public company and reporting issuer clients
  • Support engagements from planning through completion
  • Prepare and review financial statements and related note disclosures
  • Apply knowledge of IFRS and CAS
  • Perform substantive testing across revenue, expenses, assets, liabilities, taxes
  • Review supporting documentation and assess sufficiency of audit evidence
  • Identify audit issues and misstatements
  • Prepare corporate tax returns and other filings
  • Communicate with clients to obtain information and resolve issues
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff
  • Collaborate with Managers and Partners on planning, risk, materiality and deadlines
  • Build client relationships and contribute to practice growth

Job description

Our client, a well-established public accounting firm in Vancouver, is looking to add a Senior Accountant, Audit to its Public Company Assurance team.

This opportunity is well suited to a designated CPA with public company audit experience who wants to continue developing their technical assurance skills while taking on increased responsibility across engagements, client relationships, and junior staff mentorship.

The Role
  • Prepare and review audit, review, and tax engagements
  • Work primarily with public company and reporting issuer clients
  • Support engagements from planning through completion
  • Prepare and review financial statements and related note disclosures
  • Apply knowledge ofIFRSand Canadian Auditing Standards
  • Perform substantive testing across revenue, expenses, capital assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, equity, and income taxes
  • Review supporting documentation and assess the sufficiency of audit evidence
  • Identify audit issues, misstatements, and areas requiring further investigation
  • Prepare corporate tax returns and other tax compliance filings as required
  • Communicate directly with clients to obtain information and resolve engagement issues
  • Supervise and mentor junior team members
  • Work closely with Managers and Partners on engagement planning, risk areas, materiality, and deadlines
  • Build strong client relationships and contribute to the broader growth of the practice
What You Bring
  • CPA designation
  • Approximately2–4 years of relevant public accounting experience
