About The Role

Are you passionate about numbers and music? At DMCL, we’re looking for a Staff Accountant to join our Entertainment Group who are a tight-knit, high-performing team that supports artists, creators and industry professionals through every stage of their careers. Based in either our Victoria office, you’ll play a pivotal role in managing the financial side of our clients’ lives so they can focus on their creative work.

This is more than accounting— this is business management in a fast-paced, always-evolving industry. No two days are the same. You’ll be handling multiple priorities, collaborating with talent reps and tour managers, and getting to know the ins and outs of the entertainment world. If you’re energized by variety, thrive in a client-facing environment, and love being part of a passionate team, this could be your perfect fit.

How you’ll make a difference

In this role, you’ll support clients across Canada and beyond with hands-on accounting services that keep their careers running smoothly. You’ll be responsible for :

  • Managing the full cycle of accounts payable and receivable
  • Preparing invoices, billings, and tour reconciliations
  • Handling payroll calculations and government remittances
  • Preparing external filings (GST / HST, T4s, T5s, etc.)
  • Conducting bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Supporting clients with everyday financial questions and planning
  • Learning the nuances of business management accounting — where no task is too small, and every detail matters.

You'll also be immersed in year-end files and T1 preparation, helping clients get organized for tax time while building your own technical depth. With high-volume, quick-turnaround work, this team thrives on multitasking, clear communication, and a great sense of humour.

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who’s energized by client service and loves the entertainment space. You’re likely to succeed if you bring :

  • 1+ years of bookkeeping experience (CPA-EVR route friendly)
  • A keen interest in supporting artists and the entertainment industry
  • Experience or familiarity with Sage, Excel, and Xero — and strong overall bookkeeping fundamentals
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple projects
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills — you’ll be dealing with agents, managers, and high-profile clients
  • Comfort working independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • A sense of accountability and confidence to own your work
  • Enjoy the idea of heading out to local shows or festivals after work

What DMCL offers

We offer a unique opportunity to grow your career in a supportive, flexible, and collaborative environment. Our compensation and benefits include :

  • A standard 35-hour work week, with paid overtime or time-off in lieu at all levels
  • Support for the CPA program through the Employment Verification Route (EVR)
  • Opportunities for continuous learning and internal mobility
  • Physical and mental wellness initiatives
  • An Excess Time Meal Allowance for longer workdays
  • Regular firm-sponsored social events (plus the occasional concert!)

The Entertainment Group works in-office five days a week during your six-month probation period to support hands-on onboarding and learning. Once you're up to speed, you'll transition to a hybrid schedule—working from home on Mondays and Fridays, and collaborating with your teammates in-office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
