Base pay range

CA$50,000.00/yr - CA$60,000.00/yr

Do you love helping people with their numbers? Our private-sector client, an accounting firm in East Ottawa, ON, is looking for a full-time Staff Accountant/Bookkeeper to join their team on-site. About you

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • 2+ years of public accounting experience in Canada
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French — not mandatory if you have 3+ years of public accounting experience
  • Diploma or degree in accounting
  • Familiar with tax software such as TaxCycle, TaxPrep, or ProFile
  • Experience in Personal, Corporate, and Trust Income tax preparation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Sage, QuickBooks, and CaseWare
  • Strong strategic thinking, customer service, communication, and time management skills
  • Driven to make a positive impact on clients
About the role

If hired, you will:

  • Prepare personal and corporate tax returns
  • Research tax issues
  • Handle CRA reviews/audits
  • Communicate with tax authorities to represent clients (CRA and RQ)
  • Assist with bookkeeping engagements for clients (QBO/Sage)
  • Reconcile accounts, post journal entries, and assess the quality of financial statements
  • Analyze financial documents, prepare reports, and audit findings
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, procedures and internal controls
