Job description

Your Role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Staff Accountant is a hands-on role that will significantly impact 1QBit's finance function. This role is responsible for managing accounts payable, payroll, and periodic financial close processes to ensure the accuracy of the general ledger and compliance with relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will have one to two years of full cycle accounting experience, seeking a role with broad responsibilities, learning opportunities, and an entrepreneurial environment. We seek a positive, organized, and motivated individual capable of working independently and collaboratively.

What You’ll Do

  1. Manage accounts payable, including invoice receipt, approval coordination, entry preparation, vendor setup, and payments.
  2. Oversee credit card processes, reviewing statements, supporting documents, data uploads, and payments.
  3. Process bi-weekly payroll for staff and contract workers using Rise payroll system.
  4. Handle WCB, EHT, and payroll remittance calculations and reporting.
  5. Support month-end closing, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  6. Assist with year-end audits by preparing working papers and responding to auditor inquiries.
  7. Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

What You’ll Bring

Required :

  • Accounting certificate, diploma, or bachelor’s degree
  • One to two years of full cycle accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles
  • Experience with Sage Intacct, Rise, and/or Nexonia is a plus
  • Openness to adopting new systems and automating processes
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency in Excel
