Job description

St. Louis Adult Learning and Continuing Education Centre

The Waterloo Catholic District School Board, serving a student population of 38,000 across 50 schools (Kindergarten to Grade 12) in the Waterloo Region, is committed to diversity and equity in its recruitment practices.

Program Overview:

The St. Louis Hairstyling Training Program is recognized by the Ontario Ministry of Education Skills Trades Ontario and is regarded as a quality program by regional employers.

The Hairstyling Teacher(s) will report to the Principal of St. Louis Adult Learning and Continuing Education Centres and will teach courses with codes TXJ3E and TXJ4E.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop lesson plans and deliver curriculum to students.
  2. Use a variety of instructional strategies.
  3. Evaluate student progress, provide feedback, and complete report cards.
  4. Order consumable materials for classroom and salon use.
  5. Collaborate with co-op teachers to prepare students for placements.
  6. Lead after-school intake sessions for prospective students.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification.
  • Senior qualifications in Technological Studies, Personal Services, or Hairstyling.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada.
  • Availability for in-person classes.

Desirable Assets:

  • Ontario Trade Certification as a Hairstylist.
  • Previous teaching experience.
  • Experience working in the hair industry.

Compensation: $55.41/hour for OCT certified candidates.
