Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in Linux administration in production environments.

  • Knowledge of industry-standard protocols: TCP/IP, HTTPS, DNS, LDAP.

Fortinet has an exciting opportunity for an intermediate SRE Specialist to join our FortiGuard operation team. We are managing consumer-facing services with high traffic volumes around the world. Service Reliability and Security is our top priority. This is a unique opportunity to join an established team of experienced professionals to work on some of the most innovative technology and network security products on the market.

Job Responsibilities
  • Linux System Administration:
    • Administer Linux servers across distributions such as Ubuntu, Red Hat, and Oracle Enterprise Linux (OEL).
  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
    • Monitor performance metrics of servers, storage, VMs, containers, applications, and network components to ensure optimal operation.
  • Vulnerability and Patch Management:
    • Apply the latest security updates to the server infrastructure and conduct routine vulnerability scan to proactively identify and address potential security issues.
  • Tracking Security Issues via SOAR:
    • Leverage SOAR (Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response) solution to track, prioritize, and resolve security issues reported by the Security team.
  • Kubernetes cluster Administration:
    • Deployment of global Kubernetes cluster, including measures for securing and protecting applications and data in the cluster.
  • CI/CD Implementation and Management:
    • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automating the build, testing, and deployment of the Internet services using tools like Ansible, SaltStack and Terraform.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
    • Orchestrate the development and management of IaC frameworks to automate provisioning of operating systems, applications, and network infrastructure.
  • On-call Support:
    • Provide on-call support for critical services to ensure high availability.
Job Experience Required
  • 3+ years of practical administration experience in Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu) as a server platform. Having experience with Linux in production-grade environments is required.
  • 3+ years of administration experience in Virtualized environments (e.g., VMware ESXi, OpenStack, and K8S).
  • 3+ years of practical experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).
  • Knowledge of configuring physical servers & network appliances (e.g., Dell, HP, Fortinet).
  • Knowledge of monitoring network/server systems (e.g., Zabbix, ServiceNow).
  • Knowledge of observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
  • Knowledge of industry-standard protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, HTTPS, DNS, LDAP).
  • Knowledge of deployment automation in physical and virtual environments.
  • Knowledge of at least one scripting language (e.g., Bash, Python, Go).
  • Knowledge of the CIS security controls and hardening Operating System and applications.
  • Highly organized, able to multi-task, the ability to work individually and within a team. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written across all user levels.
  • Strong understanding of system security practices and implementation.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Educational Requirement
  • A degree or technical diploma in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certification for RHCE, CCIE, or CISSP would be the bonus.

The Canada base salary range for this full-time position is expected to be between $112,100 - $137,000 annually. Wage ranges are based on various factors including the labour market, job type, and job level. Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate’s subject knowledge, skill level, qualifications, and experience.
