Job summary

Sun Life is seeking a highly motivated Site Reliability Engineer / Release Management & Automation Specialist to sustain and transform our enterprise release orchestration platform. You will automate deployments, support the transition to a new release management solution, and partner with vendors on evaluations and proofs-of-concept.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of automation development experience (Ansible).
• Kubernetes/OpenShift administration (CKA/CKS preferred).
• Linux/Unix system administration.
• Proficient in Python, JavaScript and Ansible automation.
• Experience with enterprise release tools (CDD, Harness.io).
• Hands-on coding in Java, Tomcat, JAX-RS, Maven and Gradle.
• Experience with containers/Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of monitoring/logs (Splunk).
• Networking and security awareness.
• REST API integration and design.
• Strong automation mindset and willingness to innovate.

Responsibilities

• Sustain current enterprise release orchestration operations, integrations, automation, governance, and support activities.
• Design, develop and support solutions that automate agent deployments and release orchestration processes.
• Support vendor evaluations, proof-of-concepts, and transitions to future release management platforms.
• Participate in pipeline planning and support release and orchestration processes.
• Contribute to automation policy, standards and processes.
• Promote re-use of solutions across teams via demos and coaching.
• Ensure automations comply with security directives and policies.
• Create automation playbooks and documentation for team understanding.
• Identify automation opportunities and guide implementation approaches.
• Educate teams on automation tools and best practices.
• Maintain strict compliance with security and change management directives.
• Balance reliability, support, stakeholder engagement and incident resolution with an SRE mindset.
