The Strait Regional Centre for Education is seeking qualified teachers for upcoming vacancies in Nova Scotia. Essential qualifications include valid teaching certification, strong classroom management skills, and proficiency in French. Applicants should be prepared to undergo reference checks and provide current criminal record checks before employment.
During this round of postings, permanent contract teachers, teachers with Recall Status, and external applicants may apply to vacancies they are qualified for. Permanent contract teachers must use their Internal profile to have seniority recognized. Internal applicants who apply for more than one position should rank their applications in order of preference.
As part of the public education system in Nova Scotia, the Strait Regional Centre for Education (SRCE) was established on April 1, 2018, to deliver the public school program focusing on supporting student learning, achievement, well-being, and overall success. The SRCE, supported by approximately 1,050 employees, works diligently to achieve its mission: “to empower our children and youth, within safe, equitable, and inclusive environments, to embrace a changing world as responsible, contributing, and successful lifelong learners.” In 2024-2025, SRCE operates 20 schools with approximately 5,981 students; and about 375 children attend pre-primary programs at 14 school locations. Located in northeastern Nova Scotia, SRCE’s jurisdiction includes the counties of Antigonish, Guysborough, Inverness, and Richmond, covering approximately 11,000 square kilometres with a population of 53,742 (Census 2021).

Teachers hired or recalled into new positions will be required to participate in a New Teacher training if they have not already completed it.
Essential Qualifications:
Your application must include at least three (3) work-related references, one of which must be your most recent supervisor. All shortlisted candidates will have references checked prior to interviews.
All employees of SRCE must provide a current (within the last 6 months), clear Criminal Record Check - Vulnerable Sector, and Child Abuse Registry prior to employment.
