Our Trading team is looking for a candidate with strong analytical skills to handle large datasets, aggregate and model data, and provide market intelligence and fundamental analysis to support crude oil trading strategies. Collaboration across geographies and commodities within the trading platform will be essential for success in this role.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Five years of experience in a commodity trading environment
  • A University degree in business, finance, accounting, or engineering
  • In-depth knowledge of North American physical crude oil markets and logistics, especially the WCSB
  • Familiarity with trading instruments such as forwards, futures, swaps, and options
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships across organizational levels
  • Attention to detail ensuring thoroughness and accuracy
  • Experience with data mining, modeling, and analysis using Excel

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct supply and demand analysis to develop trade strategies and identify market trends
  • Assist in forming the team's short- to medium-term outlook, focusing on Canadian crude oil balances and trade opportunities
  • Design and support trading tools to monitor seasonality, location arbitrage, and refining margins globally
  • Apply advanced modeling techniques to analyze energy market variables
  • Identify and evaluate asset optimization opportunities related to pricing and logistics
  • Collaborate with internal analysts and communicate insights across the trading desk
  • Support training and mentorship within the team

Location and Other Details:

  • Based in Calgary at the Suncor Energy Centre, 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Standard office hours, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
