Job Description

Hitachi Rail Canada seeks a self-motivated Telecom Deployment Engineer to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The role involves a range of engineering tasks from administrative to strategic, based in Mississauga, ON.

Accountabilities
  • Plan, execute, monitor, and control design, configuration, testing, and commissioning activities for telecommunication systems according to the project schedule.
  • Interface with customers and managers regarding design and commissioning status.
  • Maintain action items list and generate reports.
  • Perform verification and validation activities from factory to system handover.
  • Supervise configuration and deployment of radio systems, networks, fiber optic cabling, and data communication systems.
  • Conduct site surveys on railroad property for equipment layout.
  • Handle commissioning, optimization, troubleshooting, and testing of radio, network, and fiber systems.
  • Serve as onsite main contact and site leader for communications as needed.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Knowledge of communications engineering principles, radio frequency management, electromagnetic wave propagation, and RF measurements.
  • Experience with fiber optics, digital communications, hardware, software, and related technologies.
  • Exposure to Passenger Information Systems.
  • Understanding of complex wired and wireless network design.
  • Experience managing small to medium projects and teams.
  • Proficiency with test equipment like multimeters, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Knowledge of testing and commissioning processes.
  • Ability to interpret electrical, electronic, and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Flexibility to work across various sites along Mississauga LRT stations and control center.
