About Us

Cigar Lake, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s highest-grade uranium mine. The uranium produced at Cigar Lake is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to energize a clean-air world.

The Role

In this role you will spend a minimum of 50% of your time in the field, including surface and underground. You will also review and revise safety documentation and be responsible for supporting workplace health and safety programs through education and mentoring to various levels of the organization. You will have an opportunity to be an active member of our emergency response program.

In this role, you will:

  1. Work as a member of the health and safety team
  2. Be responsible for safety program data collection and management
  3. Conduct workplace inspections and work with people to help them better understand safe workplace requirements
  4. Once qualified, participate in confined space testing
  5. Attend safety toolbox meetings and present safety related topics
  6. Take a proactive role in hazard identification and recommend corrective actions

Required:

  1. Diploma or certificate in occupational health and safety or a related field
  2. Three to six years of relevant work experience
  3. Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
  4. Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft

Recommended:

  1. Construction safety officer designation
  2. Emergency Response Team (ERT)
  3. Capable of obtaining or have obtained fire extinguisher maintenance certification
  4. Effective computer and software skills
