Senior Specialist, Financial Systems

The Senior Specialist, Financial Systems is responsible for managing and enhancing financial systems to support organizational goals across all three business units and functions for the ERP and related financial systems. The Senior Specialist reviews system and process controls, assesses business needs, documents requirements with technical options, troubleshoots issues, supports users, facilitates workshops, conducts end-user training, and develops process manuals and user guides.

What you’ll do :

Oversee, maintain, and govern data hierarchies and setup procedures within the financial system, ensuring standardization across all operating companies.

Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance systems and align with organizational goals.

Support redesign and change initiatives.

Design and maintain standard financial reports, document reporting requirements, analyze needs, and create solutions for end users.

Collaborate with the financial reporting team on month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes; support audit activities related to financial data.

Test financial system controls periodically to ensure data integrity in the general ledger.

Coordinate with IT support to maintain system settings and configurations as business needs evolve.

Optimize ERP systems and seek process improvements.

Promote cooperation between finance teams and ensure shared planning, execution, and data-driven decision-making.

Build data models and serve as the point of contact for data structures within ERP and Power BI systems for finance and accounting.

Validate and maintain automatic accounting instructions (AAIs) against standards and system processes.

Manage user security models, handle role change requests, and ensure segregation of duties integrity.

Define requirements, develop business cases, build project plans, and lead implementations of new programs, including system upgrades and training rollouts.

Provide leadership and expertise at the intersection of accounting and financial systems.

Develop and execute end-user training programs for accounting staff.

What you’ll bring :

Bachelor’s degree required.

MBA is desirable.

CPA (CA, CMA, CGA) designation required.

Experience with Oracle Cloud is a plus.

Minimum 7 years of experience in finance, accounting, or IT, including reporting, data management, system implementations/upgrades, project management, and report writing (e.g., SAP Business Objects, Crystal Reports).

Expertise in Canadian ASPE, GAAP, and related financial reporting standards.

Preferably 5 years of project management experience.

At least 3 years leading teams of finance, accounting, or IT professionals.
