Sr. Solution Architect to Govern Enterprise Architecture and Lead Platform Modernization for Automotive Finance Client
Location: Markham, ON (3 days/week on-site, Tuesday to Thursday)
Type: Permanent Full-Time
Our client, a leading Canadian automotive finance organization, is looking for a Solution Architect to join their Enterprise Architecture team in Markham on a permanent basis.
Most development and support is delivered through a large ecosystem of external vendors. Your job is to govern, evaluate, and drive. You are the internal technical authority ensuring vendors are designing and delivering the right solutions, integrating correctly across a complex technology landscape, and meeting the organization's architecture standards.
The team is lean and the mandate is wide. You need to operate independently, cover a broad range of architecture domains, and have the communication skills to hold your own with vendors and business stakeholders at the executive level.
Must-Haves
- 8-10+ years of solution or enterprise architecture experience, with broad coverage across application, integration, cloud, data, and security domains. Candidates who have specialized in one area on a large architecture team have consistently struggled in this role
- Hands-on AWS experience including cloud-native services such as Lambda, EC2, and API Gateway. Must be able to evaluate and govern vendor cloud architecture decisions confidently
- Integration architecture experience across complex, multi-vendor environments. Understanding of how APIs, middleware, and systems connect at scale across 40-50 vendor integrations
- MuleSoft familiarity. It is the organization's external API gateway and staying in place. Must understand how APIs are managed and how they tie together through MuleSoft
- Salesforce integration experience. Salesforce is a major platform in active use and a significant vendor relationship
- Familiarity with Java, Node.js, and Spring on WebSphere or similar on-premise application servers. The organization runs legacy on-premise systems alongside cloud and the architect needs to evaluate vendor work across both
- SharePoint and M365 implementation and configuration experience
- Strong communication skills and executive presence. This role works directly with business stakeholders, senior leadership, and a large vendor ecosystem. The ability to explain technical decisions in business language and drive consensus is as important as technical depth
- Comfortable operating independently with minimal direction in an ambiguous environment
Nice-to-Have
- Financial services, auto finance, or regulated industry background
- Dealer management system or loan origination platform experience (Route 1, Defi Solutions)
- AI and GenAI evaluation experience with responsible AI considerations
- Security architecture knowledge in a regulated environment
What You’ll Do
- Evaluate and govern solution designs submitted by vendors across Salesforce, MuleSoft, AWS, WebSphere, dealer management systems, loan origination platforms, and a broad vendor ecosystem
- Work directly with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into architectural direction and executable designs
- Design and oversee integration solutions across a complex multi-vendor technology stack spanning cloud, on-premise, and SaaS
- Drive the modernization journey from legacy on-premise systems to cloud and SaaS on AWS
- Partner with major vendors including Salesforce, TCS, and others on project execution and ongoing support
- Evaluate AI and GenAI opportunities with a risk-first lens including security, privacy, data residency, and regulatory compliance
- Produce and maintain architecture documentation including diagrams, interface specifications, and architecture decision records
- Contribute to IT strategy, roadmap, and annual technology budget
Interview Process
- Round 1: In person with the architecture team
- Round 2: In person with the National Manager of IT
