Sr Software Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced software engineer to help us improve and enhance Project Harvester and Longhorn.

Harvester is an open-source hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) software powered by cutting-edge cloud-native technologies like Kubernetes, KubeVirt, and Longhorn. It serves as an open-source alternative to vSphere and Nutanix.

Longhorn is an open-source, cloud-native storage software for Kubernetes, recognized as a CNCF project. It provides persistent storage support for Kubernetes, enabling users to run stateful applications inside Kubernetes in both development and production environments.

We are looking for someone passionate about working with system-level software and open-source projects to further enhance these technologies within Harvester, Longhorn, and Rancher. Join our team to help deliver innovative open-source technologies and be part of the container revolution!

What you will be doing:

• Develop features, enhancements, and bug fixes for Harvester and Longhorn (written in Go and C)
• Participate in the Harvester, Longhorn, Rancher, and Kubernetes open source communities via Slack, forums, and GitHub
• Promote Harvester, Longhorn, Rancher, and Kubernetes through blogs, meetups, and conference talks
• Resolve issues in production deployments of Harvester, Longhorn, and Rancher
• Collaborate with fellow engineers and customers to create a world-class product
• Write high-quality, well-tested code to minimize regressions

What you bring to us:

• Comfortable working in modern Linux environments
• Knowledge of Kubernetes and Linux systems
• Fluency in languages like C / C++, Go, Bash, Python, and/or Java
• Experience in building maintainable and well-tested code
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
• Passionate about learning and researching new technologies
• At least four years of education, training, and experience in this technical field
• Preferably, development experience with virtualization platforms/hypervisors
