About the Role

As a Software Development Engineer on our Communications Delivery - Neptune team, you will have the opportunity to:

• Craft a highly scalable collaboration platform with the emphasis on deliverability of messages at scale

• Collaborate in a small team using your engineering background to get work done

• Build and maintain robust code and reliable automated tests

• Participate in the team's paid on-call rotation - Work closely with engineering teams in the US, Canada, and Ireland to deliver exciting next generation applications and services for Workday

• Engage in a culture of learning and innovation through hackathons, online course offerings, and employee-led special interest guilds

About You

We're seeking talented and passionate software engineers who excel at building usable, scalable, and well-tested software within a highly collaborative and supportive environment. Ideal candidates will have experience with systems that efficiently deliver high volumes of messages across various communication channels (like email and WhatsApp), possess a deep understanding of the challenges in distributed software, and be adept at addressing them. Furthermore, a strong grasp of communication protocol security and practical experience developing cloud software services with an understanding of scalability, performance, reliability, and their associated tradeoffs are essential.

Basic Qualifications

• 7+ years of software development experience with Java

• 2+ years of experience with Public Cloud Platforms, specifically AWS

Other Qualifications

• Experience creating scalable and parallel-processing system architectures

• Experience with developing server-side components for enterprise software

• Ability to deliver on time working in a fast-paced agile environment

• History of mentoring engineers of all levels

• Collaboration skills: accomplishing tasks will often require working across teams and coordinating work on your own team

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.
