Job summary

Cognizant is hiring a Data Engineer in Halifax, Canada to design and operate data pipelines using Snowflake, Python, SQL, and AWS. You will support ingestion from diverse sources, manage data products, and work across legacy and modern platforms.

The role requires collaboration with US and offshore teams, plus participation in on-call rotation and releases. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Snowflake, AWS, and data processing patterns, ensuring data quality and reliability

Qualifications

• Proficient in building data pipelines with Snowflake, Python and SQL.
• Experience with AWS services for data processing and storage.
• Familiarity with legacy exposure and modern platforms (DB2, Denodo).
• Knowledge of schema changes and DBT, and version control with GitHub.

Responsibilities

• Work in an integrated DevOps model handling Run and Change activities.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines using Python, SQL, Snowflake, and AWS.
• Support ingestion of data from multiple upstream systems (APIs, files, S3, legacy sources).
• Build and manage data products consumed via Snowflake.
• Handle legacy and modern platforms (DB2, Denodo, AWS, Snowflake).
• Design and manage orchestration using EDF, Snowflake tasks, Tivoli.
• Perform data transformation, validation, and quality checks.
• Support batch processing and event-driven pipelines.
• Participate in on-call rotation to handle incidents and production issues.
• Troubleshoot failures and perform RCA for data issues.
• Work closely with product owners to deliver prioritized backlog items.
• Collaborate with cross-functional and distributed teams (US & offshore).
• Manage GitHub repositories, PRs, and CI/CD deployment pipelines.
• Ensure proper coordination of releases across teams.
• Support both legacy systems and transformation to strategic platforms.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $ 80,000 - $ 110,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
