Job summary

Aecon, a leader in major civils, seeks a Senior Risk Specialist to join the ONxpress Development Phase. You will lead risk assessments, maintain risk registers, and drive advanced risk modelling, while coordinating with audits and authorities to protect project objectives.

Demonstrated experience across large-scale infrastructure, strong analytical and communication skills, and proficiency with Excel and Power BI are essential. This role emphasizes leadership and inclusion.

Qualifications

  • Degree in engineering, business, analytics, or related field.
  • 5–8 years of risk management experience in large infrastructure projects.
  • Certifications (CAP, CRM, PMP) are assets; strong software/tools proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate risk assessments, workshops, and governance meetings.
  • Own and maintain the risk register with quantified and mitigated risks.
  • Oversee inputs for risk modeling and forecasting; run Monte Carlo analyses.
  • Integrate quantitative and qualitative risk into project forecasts.
  • Lead RM3 activities, audits, and coordination with authorities.
  • Be the main liaison for audits, inspections, and contracting authorities.
  • Drive collaboration across risk, compliance, commercial and project teams.
  • Mentor junior risk team members and develop capabilities.
  • Drive continuous improvement of risk practices and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with risk, regulatory and safety standards.

What is the Opportunity?

ONxpress Transportation Partners (ONxpress) were chosen byMetrolinxand Infrastructure Ontario (IO) to enter the Development Phase of the On-Corridor Works project – the largest project inMetrolinx’sGO Expansion.

Unprecedented in its scale and complexity, this multi-billion-dollar capital program will transform the GO regional rail network with electrification, more frequent service, shorter journey times and a more modernized system for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.

As part of the ONxpress project, Aecon is looking for a qualified Senior Risk Specialist to join our team.

WhatYou’llDo Here:
  • Lead andfacilitaterisk assessments, workshops, and governance meetings.

Own andmaintainthe risk register, ensuring risks areidentified, quantified, and mitigated.

Oversee andvalidateinputs for risk modeling and forecasting.

Perform and lead schedule risk analysis using Monte Carlo simulations.

Integrate quantitative and qualitative risk analysis into project forecasts.

Lead RM3 activities, including audit preparation and coordination.

Act as key contact for audits, inspections, and contracting authorities.

Drive collaboration across risk, compliance, commercial, and project teams.

Mentor junior team members and support development of risk capabilities.

Lead continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing risk practices, systems, and reporting.

  • Ensure compliance with risk, regulatory, and safety standards.
  • Deliver executive-level reporting and insights to support decision-making.
  • Develop risk reports highlightingprogress, toprisksand QRA results.
  • Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging.
What You Bring to The Team:
  • Degree in Engineering, Business, Analytics, or relatedfield.
  • Certifications (CAP, CRM, PMP) considered an asset.
  • 5-8 years of risk management experience in large, complex infrastructure or capital projects.
  • AACE recommended practices.

Demonstrated experience with Safran Risk software.

  • Strong experience in large-scale projects (brownfield/greenfield).
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and influence stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and Microsoft Office.
  • Solid understanding of risk, compliance, contracts, and regulatory requirements.
  • Be a champion of inclusion and diversity.

Reason for vacancy: Replacement

Pay Range: $80,000 - $120,000

Individual pay isdeterminedbased on several factors, including work location, education, experience, uniqueskillsand job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
