Sr. Protection and Control Testing Engineer, Puerto Rico - 3weeks on / 2 off

PHASOR Engineering Inc. is a dynamic Alberta-based company specializing in engineering, design, and testing/commissioning of medium to high voltage electrical facilities. We focus on providing cost-effective and efficient power system engineering solutions, involved in projects from preliminary engineering to commissioning and startup.

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Protection and Control Testing Engineer, P&C Technologist / Specialist / Technician to join our team full-time. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, skilled problem-solver, and detail-oriented, ready to work in a challenging environment across all testing and commissioning aspects.

Responsibilities:

1. Testing and commissioning power system protection & control schemes in utility, power generation, and oil & gas industries.
2. Read and interpret drawings, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues.
3. Prepare and submit reports.
4. Assist in generating commissioning startup procedures or work instructions.
5. Ensure compliance with safety practices according to corporate, client, and industry standards.
6. Respond to customer inquiries, discuss trouble details, and confirm resolutions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Electrician Journeyman Ticket, or Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma from a recognized institute.
• 6+ years of experience in Protection and Controls testing within the electrical utilities industry.
• Strong interpersonal, communication skills, and extreme attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and strong computer skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple issues simultaneously.
• Strong analytical, risk assessment, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work extended periods out of town.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Background checks and drug/alcohol testing will be required.

Requirements:

• Legally authorized to work in Canada; VISA sponsorship is not available.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
• Ability to work extended periods out of town.

Additional Information:

• Working hours are generally from 7 am to 5:30 pm, 10 hours/day.
• Work hours and shifts may change based on project needs; flexibility is required.
