Qualifications

• Electrical or Computer Engineering Degree or Technologist diploma required.

This position will report to the Chief Metallurgical Engineer and is located in Vanscoy, Saskatchewan.

Pay Band: K, L, or M. The title and salary offered will be based on experience and education.

What You Will Do

• Maintain and configure the Surface/Mill Foxboro DCS and associated equipment
• Maintain and configure the Surface/Mill Rockwell PLCs and associated equipment
• Integrate instrumentation, smart starters, VFDs, etc., with the DCS & PLC systems
• Maintain the automation work backlog and prioritize according to operations needs
• Assist electrical and instrumentation personnel with maintenance and commissioning
• Support day-to-day operations and troubleshoot issues
• Maintain the surface Historian
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team on projects related to electrical, instrumentation, and programming requirements, including design, drafting, cost analysis, and automation control strategies
• Collaborate with internal subject matter experts on network infrastructure upgrades to industry IT/OT standards
• Coordinate with process engineering to optimize process performance and automation
• Work with service providers, vendors, and contractors, ensuring compliance with site and industry standards

What You Will Bring

• Education: Electrical or Computer Engineering Degree with eligibility to register with APEGS Saskatchewan OR Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering Technologist diploma with eligibility for registration with SASTT
• Ability to perform all tasks prioritizing safety
• Ability to identify and mitigate workplace hazards
• Experience in automation, system integration, or control systems maintenance, especially with PLCs and DCS equipment
• Effective communication skills with various departments and external partners
• Demonstrated respect in the workplace
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of electrical and instrumentation schematics
• Experience in engineering, maintenance, projects, or operations at industrial sites
• Experience with PLCs, DCSs, VFDs, or smart starters
