Sr. Manager, Software Dev, UPX (Unified Payments Experience)

UPX (Unified Payments Experience) team is growing and modernizing its architecture using cutting-edge technologies. We are seeking exceptional talent to rapidly build applications utilizing new AWS services, Reactive Native technology, open-source frameworks, and serverless architecture. Our work involves solving complex engineering challenges, from securing customer PII end-to-end to building highly reliable Tier-1 services with 5 nines availability. We influence all Amazon customers using payments to purchase products or services. Additionally, multiple contributor teams leverage our federated architecture to enhance the customer payment experience by launching new payment methods.

Our mission is to provide a trusted, intuitive, and accessible experience for customers. We also aim to improve contributor efficiency through tools and automation, empowering them with reliable data for critical business decisions.

Key job responsibilities

What will you do?

  1. Accelerate the development and expansion of UPX-driven Payment Experience worldwide.
  2. Coach, mentor, and lead software engineers and technical managers to deliver business value across multiple units.
  3. Apply creativity daily to solve complex problems for our global operations.
  4. Continuously improve systems to scale and meet the demands of a rapidly growing, dynamic business.
  5. Enhance cycle times, maintain system integrity, develop integrations and efficiencies, and automate manual processes.
A day in the life

You will play a critical role in defining, designing, and developing multiple products—both new and existing. Your responsibilities include:

  1. Hiring, retaining, and growing top engineering talent.
  2. Serving as a clear technical voice, working with your teams to deliver scalable architecture.
  3. Delivering high-quality technical solutions that delight customers reliably.
  4. Formulating business strategies and defining compelling product roadmaps.
  5. Communicating risks and successes at the executive level, shaping the vision for products.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10+ years of engineering experience
  • 5+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 10+ years of experience in planning, designing, developing, and delivering consumer software
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams
  • Experience managing multiple programs and projects in an Agile environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience designing and developing large-scale, high-traffic applications

The salary range for this position is $214,200 to $357,800 annually, based on experience and skills. Compensation may include equity, sign-on bonuses, and other benefits. Please apply via our careers site.
