Summary of Position Functions

The Sr. Manager, Service Operations will quickly gain an understanding and working knowledge of Veregy's service offerings and use that knowledge to oversee the performance of a nationwide service division responsible for multiple trades; primarily HVAC and Building Automation Systems. This individual will lead a dispersed team of engineers, technicians, and trade specific managers and be accountable for ensuring customer satisfaction, product delivery, and overall team performance.

Essential Position Functions

  • Provide leadership and strategic oversight across multiple distributed service teams including (but not limited to) HVAC and building automation.
  • Ensure coordination and consistency of service delivery across all technical departments.
  • Develop and implement strategic performance improvement and service division expansion plans.
  • Coordinate with direct reports and regional project implementation teams to successfully on-board clients to their service contracts.
  • Develop and implement processes to manage service delivery, including scoping, schedules, budgets, and quality control.
  • Address escalated customer issues and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee resource allocation across trades to meet service demand and project timelines.
  • Develop and manage a talent management plan to attract, develop, and retain top engineering and technician talent.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including service backlog, productivity, and profitability.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting for the service division.
  • Review and approve service invoicing and timesheet accuracy.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and other departments to identify new business opportunities.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises employees in the Service department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Veregy's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
  • Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise employees in the operations department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Veregy's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Education and Qualifications

One or more of the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering- Mechanical, Electrical, or related technical degree.
  • Master's Degree in Business or Management.
  • 5+ years of HVAC or Building Automation System service team management experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Veregy's services and processes is required which can be obtained through intellect, technical inclination, and dedication to gain such knowledge.
  • Knowledge of various operating systems, software products (e.g. MS Office, etc.), is required.
  • Computer software proficiency including Building Automation Systems, Microsoft Project, Viewpoint, RS Means, Trimble Estimating and / or other job-related hardware and software applications that may be required.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time / workload.
  • Ability to think strategically and drive results in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, business, professional, and technical documents.
  • Ability to effectively respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and staff.
  • Ability to write presentations, articles, routine reports, proposals, and correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and tactfully negotiate priority with end users.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure and extra hours if needed.
