Purpose

The incumbent must have extensive knowledge of the industry and should be recognized for business acumen by the supported business partners. This position plays a critical leadership role in driving the successful delivery of SaaS-based technology solutions and overseeing financial and team portfolio management activities within International Banking Technology. It combines deep technical expertise with strong business acumen and fluency in both Spanish and English. The incumbent will lead cross-functional teams in designing, implementing, and supporting scalable SaaS platforms, ensuring effective financial planning, performance tracking, and governance of technology initiatives. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker passionate about innovation, operational excellence, and stakeholder collaboration.

Accountabilities

1. Deliver large and complex technology-related strategic initiatives, programs, and projects across International Banking, ensuring timely and budget-compliant implementation.
2. Visualize data to enable quick conclusions and decision-making.

Lead SaaS Engineering Delivery and Support

1. Oversee the end-to-end design, development, implementation, and support of SaaS solutions, aligning with business needs and organizational standards.
2. Manage strategic relationships with key solution vendors, ensuring service quality, platform evolution, and compliance with contractual agreements and SLAs, in collaboration with procurement, architecture, and security teams.
3. Proactively identify and communicate project risks with mitigation strategies to ensure high-quality, on-time, and on-budget delivery. Manage the full delivery process with integrated project plans supporting Agile and DevOps practices.

Technology Portfolio Management

1. Lead and manage the team responsible for planning, tracking, and reporting on the technology portfolio, ensuring transparency, prioritization, and strategic alignment.
2. Identify key issues and risks, developing creative solutions to mitigate them in a timely and cost-effective manner.
3. Maintain high motivation within diverse, multifunctional teams, managing changing priorities effectively.

Stakeholder Engagement

1. Communicate project status regularly, complete monthly reports, and escalate issues as needed. Document and archive project activities for future reference.
2. Build strong relationships with business and technology stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor.

Process Optimization

1. Identify and implement improvements in engineering practices, delivery processes, and internal operations to enhance efficiency and quality.
2. Ensure operations adhere to Scotiabank’s values, code of conduct, and compliance and risk management standards.

Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 5-8 years’ experience in engineering and financial services, managing projects with significant technology components.
• Experience with Cloud & SaaS platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Knowledge of Jira, Confluence, and other Atlassian tools.
• Proven experience in Agile and DevOps environments.

Preferred Qualifications

Certifications such as CSM, DevOps Foundation, PMP, PMI-ACP, ITIL Foundation are preferred.

Bilingual Communication

Ability to facilitate effective communication and documentation in both Spanish and English across global teams and stakeholders.
