Position Summary:
Lead the financial strategy and optimization for a dynamic IT division as the Senior Manager, IT FinOps. In this pivotal leadership role, you will empower a team to manage a significant IT budget, inclusive of the Data & Analytics group, drive insightful financial analysis across both operational and project expenditures, and strategically plan resource capacity. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring financial accountability, maximizing IT value, and directly contributing to the company's success. Responsibilities:
Team Management and Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and coach a team of direct reports, fostering their professional development and ensuring high performance.
Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews.
Promote a collaborative and positive team environment.
Delegate tasks effectively and empower team members.
Lead the development of the annual IT budget (opex and project spend) in collaboration with IT leadership and finance.
Manage and monitor the total IT budget, tracking actual spending and providing variance analysis, encompassing cloud costs.
Develop financial models and forecasting processes, including cloud consumption and spending.
Conduct financial analysis to identify cost optimization opportunities across opex and projects.
Prepare and present financial reports and insights to stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with financial policies.
Oversee the financial management of IT projects through the leadership of direct reports (Project Coordinators).
Establish and maintain financial reporting frameworks for IT projects.
Work with Project Managers to review project budgets, track expenditures, and analyze variances.
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for IT projects to stakeholders.
Resource Capacity Management:
Oversee the IT resource capacity management process.
Track and manage IT headcount, providing reporting and analysis.
Collaborate with IT teams on resource requirements and identify potential constraints.
Develop KPIs to monitor resource utilization and capacity.
Track IT vendor expenditures and ensure accurate invoicing and payment processes in partnership with Procurement and IT Leads.
Provide financial data and analysis to support vendor management activities.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication:
Build strong relationships with IT leadership, finance partners, Procurement, and other stakeholders.
Communicate financial, capacity, and vendor-related information effectively.
Partner with stakeholders to understand their needs and provide solutions.
Participate in strategic planning processes.
Process Improvement and Best Practices:
Continuously improve IT financial and capacity management processes.
Stay informed about industry best practices.
Drive the adoption of standardized reporting and analysis.
Identify opportunities for automation and optimization.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field. An MBA or relevant advanced degree is an asset.
Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in financial management, budgeting, and financial analysis, with a significant focus on IT finance (FinOps).
Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing resource capacity management processes.
Proven experience in leading and managing a team, including coaching, performance management, and fostering team development.
Experience in tracking vendor expenditures and providing financial support to vendor management activities.
Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, applications, and service delivery models.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in financial management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience in project financial management.
Knowledge of IT cost allocation models and chargeback mechanisms is an asset.
