What is the opportunity?
The Sr Manager, GRM Portfolio Management Risk Oversight will perform independent, analytical reviews across various portfolios to identify areas of concern and emerging risks. This role is an individual contributor role focused on providing clear, data-driven insights and recommendations to senior leadership, supporting proactive risk management and informed decision-making.

What will you do?

  • Develop or enhance ongoing credit risk dashboards that provide transparency on the Canadian Banking retail portfolio.
  • Perform independent risk monitoring across various portfolios and provide insights for senior leaders. Generate periodic risk reports to enable actionable insights for key stakeholders.
  • Conduct deep-dive analyses into areas of concern, elevated risk, outliers, or unusual trends to support recommendations provided by GRM in its second line of defense role.
  • Research continuously to identify opportunities to enhance process efficiencies related to product and service activities.
  • Support portfolio risk management activities through advanced data analysis and interpretation.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Strong knowledge of data, analytics, and reporting tools.
  • 5 to 7 years of related work experience with SQL, Python, or equivalent programming experience, and proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Tableau.
  • Ability to operate effectively in both business and technical environments.
  • Creative problem-solving skills with proven analytical ability.
  • Strong understanding of consumer behavior and credit risk.
  • Ability to connect process, policy, system, and data changes and assess their impact.
  • Proven success as a conceptual, creative, analytical, and strategic thinker.

Nice to have

  • Strong interpersonal, financial, and management skills.
  • Ability to anticipate and identify risks and effective mitigants.
  • Strong risk and business acumen, including experience with RBC risk management processes and areas such as IT risk, operational risk, and emerging risks.
  • Understanding of RBC’s risk appetite, strategies, and frameworks.
  • Proven prioritization and decision-making skills, with the ability to handle ambiguity.
