You will partner with Legal, Compliance, and IT leadership to establish standards and promote data stewardship. The role requires guiding a governance program across the organization, driving data quality improvements, and overseeing council activities and metrics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Management, Data Compliance, or a related field.
  • Experience mentoring or leading high-performing teams.
  • Experience developing and implementing enterprise data governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
  • Experience establishing and managing data quality programs, metrics, controls, and remediation initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a data governance and data quality framework aligned with Enterprise Data Governance standards.
  • Serve as the primary Specialty Health representative for enterprise data governance initiatives and compliance requirements.
  • Chair the Data Governance Council and drive stakeholder alignment on data strategy, quality, ownership, and stewardship.
  • Establish governance policies, standards, controls, and operating procedures to improve data integrity, consistency, and reliability.
  • Define and monitor data quality metrics, KPIs, business rules, and scorecards.
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and resolve data quality issues.
  • Lead initiatives related to data profiling, cleansing, validation, enrichment, and monitoring.
  • Define and support data stewardship and data ownership roles across the organization.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and Privacy teams to ensure adherence to applicable healthcare data privacy and security requirements.
  • Support data governance initiatives including data cataloging, metadata management, lineage, classification, retention, and access controls.
  • Evaluate and implement data governance tools and capabilities, including platforms such as Alation.
  • Develop and deliver training, communications, and change management initiatives that increase data governance adoption.
  • Monitor emerging industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in healthcare data governance and quality management.

Work Arrangement: This is a hybrid position requiring candidates to work on-site at least 2 days per week at our office in Mississauga. The remaining days may be worked remotely, subject to team and business needs.

About the Role (Job Summary): McKesson Specialty Health is seeking a strategic and collaborative Sr. Manager, Data Governance & Quality to lead the development and execution of our data governance strategy across Specialty Health. Reporting to the Director, Data Orchestration & Strategic Partnerships, this role is responsible for ensuring the integrity, quality, security, and compliance of critical healthcare and patient data assets. The successful candidate will partner closely with business leaders, Legal, Compliance, Enterprise Data Governance, and technology teams to establish governance frameworks, improve data quality, support regulatory compliance, and promote a culture of data stewardship across the organization.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Management, Data Compliance, or a related field.
  • Experience mentoring or leading high-performing teams.
  • Experience developing and implementing enterprise data governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
  • Experience establishing and managing data quality programs, metrics, controls, and remediation initiatives.
  • Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders across business, technology, compliance, and legal functions.
  • Experience with data governance platforms and tools (e.g., Alation or similar).
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
  • Healthcare, biopharma, specialty health, payer, provider, or patient-support services experience.
  • Experience working with sensitive healthcare or patient data.
  • Knowledge of Canadian privacy and healthcare regulations, including PIPEDA.
  • Experience with metadata management, data lineage, data cataloging, and master data management (MDM).
  • Experience leading governance councils, steering committees, or enterprise data initiatives.
  • Advanced degree in a related discipline.

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position $102,500 - $136,700
