Description

Job Overview:

The Senior Manager, Commercial Insights & Analytics is the strategic insights lead for the organization — responsible for shaping how data, consumer understanding, and category intelligence inform commercial decisions across retail and foodservice in the U.S. and Canada.

This role sits at the intersection of commercial analytics, consumer research, and business strategy. It requires a strong, proactive insights professional who can independently identify trends, craft compelling retailer narratives, and translate shopper and consumer learning into actionable recommendations that influence brand plans, innovation strategy, and commercial execution.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

  • Lead the organization’s commercial insights agenda, providing a clear, data-backed perspective on category, consumer, shopper, and channel dynamics across U.S. and Canadian retail and foodservice markets.
  • Identify emerging trends, competitive risks, distribution shifts, promotional performance, and whitespace opportunities, translating findings into forward-looking business actions.
  • Integrate consumer, shopper, syndicated, retailer, distributor, and internal performance data into compelling narratives that shape brand, customer, assortment, and innovation strategies.
  • Develop insight-led retailer and distributor stories and fact-based recommendations that strengthen customer line reviews, joint business planning, and growth initiatives.
  • Lead priority qualitative and quantitative research from business question and brief development through methodology selection, agency management, execution, synthesis, and strategic recommendation.
  • Embed research findings and consumer learning into annual planning, brand strategies, and innovation pipelines to support informed commercial decisions.
  • Manage enterprise data platforms, vendor contracts, budgets, invoicing, rate negotiations, and partner relationships while ensuring access to reliable insights resources.
  • Develop and enhance dashboards, KPI reporting, and shared metric definitions to improve visibility, analytical rigour, efficiency, and cross-functional alignment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, advertising, communications, or a related field, with 8+ years of progressive experience in CPG insights, consumer research, commercial analytics, or marketing data management.
  • CPG experience supporting retail and foodservice channels; U.S. and Canadian market experience is strongly preferred, while category management and shopper insights experience are strong assets.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead qualitative and quantitative research projects end-to-end, including briefing and managing research agencies.
  • Deep experience with syndicated, retailer, and vendor data platforms such as Circana/IRI, NielsenIQ, SupplyTrack, 84.51, Scintilla, Dunnhumby, or similar tools.
  • Strong analytical and marketing analytics capabilities, including working with complex data sets, testing hypotheses, applying appropriate statistical methods, and translating multiple sources into actionable recommendations.
  • Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to proactively identify opportunities and quickly learn new programs, tools, and tactics.
  • Confident storyteller with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to influence cross‑functional partners and customer‑facing discussions.
  • Collaborative people leader with strong project management, diplomacy, negotiation, and conflict‑resolution skills, able to balance multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
