Job description

Visa is seeking a candidate to join our Merchant Partnerships team as an Sr. Manager, Account Executive – Merchant & Big Tech Partners. The Senior Manager role will report to the Head of Merchant & Big Tech Partnerships for Visa Canada and will be responsible for executing strategies and initiatives to help grow Visa’s merchant and big tech partner business with select high-revenue partners.

Specific responsibilities will include deepening our partnership through project & account management, business development and the direct sales of Visa products and value-added services. The position will also work closely with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure appropriate communication flows and sustained business relationships. Visa is looking for an individual with a “roll up your sleeves” mindset with a proven record of success in building, supporting and growing client account relationships in fast-paced environments with demanding timelines. The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication and problem-solving skills and excels at building and nurturing trusted client relationships. The candidate is thoughtful, curious, and analytical with a desire to make an impact and contribute to the growth of the Canadian merchant and big tech sector.

We work in an agile environment, so the successful candidate must be assertive and proactive to ensure we achieve our goals. Organizational savvy and interpersonal skills are critical, as we interface with all areas of Visa including specialized product groups, sales, legal, pricing, client consulting, marketing, finance and corporate communications to achieve objectives. The candidate must be adaptable with the ability to pivot as new information comes to light.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Basic Qualifications

  • 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD


Preferred Qualifications

  • 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
  • Strong team player, self-motivated and the ability to work independently at coordinating across functional activities, obtain buy-in and elevate issues at critical junctures appropriately.
  • Demonstrated Payments industry experience (focused on Merchant, Acquirers and Issuers).
  • Proven track record for managing and growing client relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) with an ability to engage with senior client executives.
  • Possess a high level of professionalism and leadership skills to build business relationships, trust and respect with client, partners, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • An ability to explain complex business and technical concepts to a broad audience in an approachable way to influence and drive adoption.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence groups or individuals over which one does not have direct authority.
  • Proven track record of consultative selling, managing clients or developing and fostering partnerships.
  • Entrepreneurial attitude with a bias toward action and track record for identifying “white space” opportunities.
  • Experience in structuring deals including various financial structures and negotiation approaches.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and problem solve when the path forward is unclear and limited information is available.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • An ability to explain complex business and technical concepts to a broad audience in an approachable way to influence and drive adoption.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret business performance, research and other data sources to provide actionable insights.
