The Toronto-Dominion Bank is seeking a hands-on Lead Engineer/Dev Manager to design and develop a scalable PnL reporting platform used by Risk Analysts, Front Office Traders, and Senior Executives. You will lead an engineering team to identify bottlenecks and deliver high quality software in a timely manner.

Responsibilities include leading multiple streams, CI/CD, environment stability, design/code reviews, and driving automation to improve data quality and performance.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of Java/JEE experience and strong backend development
  • 5+ years of managing engineering teams and leading multiple streams
  • 5+ years of experience in Spring ecosystem and building microservices
  • 8+ years of experience with Scala/Spark and Big Data technologies
  • Strong knowledge of Linux, REST APIs, and distributed systems
  • Proven ability to deliver large scale, mission critical projects on time

Work Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada Hours: 37.5 Line of Business: Technology Solutions Pay Details: $126,800 - $164,100 CAD This role is eligible for a discretionary variable compensation award that considers business and individual performance. Job Description

We are looking for a hands-on Lead Engineer/Dev Manager that will work on innovative and transformational initiatives at TD Securities. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of a scalable, resilient and high‑performing PnL (Profit and Loss) reporting platform that will be used by Risk Analysts, Front Office Traders, and Senior Executives. As a lead engineer, you will be working on leading an engineering team to pinpoint the system bottleneck, providing tangible solutions quickly to resolve production issues as well as demonstrating strong technical leadership to ensure the quality of deliverables in a timely manner.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the team to deliver high quality software and help business to run their business efficiently.
  • Lead the team to manage multiple streams and follow proper code promotion process.
  • Manage lower development environments and ensure the stability of environment.
  • Conduct Design Review and Code Review processes to ensure quality of software.
  • Ability to reverse engineering legacy codes, find ways to optimize codes and address system bottleneck.
  • Ability to analyze production issues and provide a solution to resolve the issue permanently.
  • Promote the best practices and follow the continuous integration and delivery.
  • Drive transformation by continuously looking for ways to automate existing processes, test, and optimize data quality.
  • Explore new capabilities and technologies to drive innovation.
  • Experience in managing an engineering team.
Desired Skillsets

Java/JEE Spark/Scala Big Data/Hadoop/Hive Springboot/Angular/RestAPI Cassandra/Non SQL database MS SQL Server Git Linux Technical Skills 10+ technical leadership experience in leading engineering team delivering large scale and mission critical projects. 5+ years managing engineering team. 8+ years of Java/JEE experience. 5+ years of experience in the Spring tech stack and building microservices using Spring Boot 3+ years of experience in Scala/Spark. Strong experience with Hadoop, Spark, Parquet or similar Big Data technologies. Strong experience in Linux environment. Experience in designing and integrating with REST APIs. Experience working with messaging technologies (e.g. Kafka) Experience with RDBMS, demonstrable fluency in SQL and any non‑relational db such as Cassandra (is preferred). Experience of Git, CI/CD toolset (Maven), Jenkins, working within an Agile environment Understanding on best practices and design patterns. Experience developing and managing highly scalable and low latency systems. A passion for bringing best products to the customer, simplifying and automating work, for making things better, for being efficient and helping others.
