What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be working as part of a team helping to drive forwards Fixed Income Trading for the Capital Markets Desk and our various Operations teams, successfully delivering complex, enterprise-scale projects involving multiple back-end systems. As a Sr. Java Developer, you will build, implement and maintain flexible, scalable microservice solutions while helping maintain our existing footprint. You’ll be involved in the planning for the technical design, development and integration of these applications, as well as work with internal teams to identify and set up proper infrastructure.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-2 day per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Design and Development: Perform and coordinate complex application programming activities. Design the application's technical infrastructure using specific databases, programming languages, utilities, and testing approaches. Working on the design and development of cost-effective and innovative solutions within the Fixed Income group of CIBC’s Capital Markets Technology division.
  • Strategic Planning: Work on multiple complex projects involving backend systems, new technology, and the enhancement of existing applications.
  • Leadership Skills: Support and mentor intermediate developers by sharing knowledge, collaborating and problem solving .

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate experience with: 5+ years hands-on Java EE development; 4+ years Spring / Spring framework; 4 years technical experience with: SQL; Hands-on experience with RESTful API, MyBatis, Maven and git is strongly desired. You must be able to effectively interact with stakeholders, end users, business analysts, and technical resources. It’s an asset if: You have previous experience working with Fixed Income Products; projects, groups, activities and have previously worked with a Capital Markets Trade Floor based client group. Experience in Docker, Redis and Realtime Message Bus.
  • You have a degree/diploma in Computer Science/Math
