Job Summary:

We are seeking a Software Engineer who embodies the innovative, creative, collaborative spirit, and passion for filmmaking that define Lucasfilm.

As a Senior Software Engineer for Information Systems (InfoSys), you will develop robust cross-platform applications that enable Lucasfilm and its subdivisions to efficiently create and distribute movies and TV shows. Your work will involve deep integrations with third-party software and proprietary web applications supporting production and marketing workflows. You will build and support websites such as ILM.com, Lucasfilm.com, and Skysound.com, enhance the global intranet, and integrate third-party applications into existing infrastructure. You will interact with various clients, learn new workflows, and develop creative solutions to improve efficiency and productivity across Lucasfilm.

This role is hybrid, requiring 2-3 days onsite at a designated location and occasional remote work.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and maintain public-facing websites, including front-end and backend infrastructure, testing, caching, analytics, accessibility, security, and privacy.
• Manage and deploy plugins and extensions; review, design, and support existing themes within WordPress environments.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to support, migrate, and build user-friendly interfaces for large-scale external websites; provide training and documentation for editors.
• Engage in full-stack development of globally used web applications.
• Create and deploy virtual machines and AWS containers; manage multiple web and database servers to ensure availability, functionality, synchronization, and security.
• Contribute to the architecture of large websites and applications; build standalone modules and smaller web applications for organization-wide use.
• Ensure code is developed, deployed, documented, tested, and maintained following IS guidelines and GitLab repositories.
• Participate in code reviews, test new technologies, suggest improvements, and estimate requirements.
• Coordinate with designers on UI/UX elements.
• Profile and optimize website performance, including image scaling.
• Build mobile-friendly, responsive, and well-tested websites.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in Python (2.6+ or 3.3+), JavaScript, PHP, Linux, and SQL.
• Full-stack web development experience.
• Strong knowledge of HTML/HTML5 and responsive CSS design.
• Experience with WordPress theme and plugin development.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in an agile environment with creative problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with frameworks like Flask, Django, or Plone; JavaScript libraries like Vue.js, jQuery, Angular, React.
• Knowledge of web servers such as Nginx, uWSGI, Apache; data stores like Solr, Oracle, PostgreSQL.
• Tools: Virtualenv, Buildout, py.test, Ansible, Selenium.
• Virtualization and cloud experience with AWS, VMWare, Docker, Google Cloud.
• Analytics tools and eCommerce platforms experience.
• Familiarity with Digital Accessibility and Google Search Console.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary range in Vancouver is C$112,100 to C$150,200, based on a 40-hour workweek. Actual compensation will consider internal equity, geographic location, experience, and skills. Benefits include medical, financial, and other variable pay options.
