Hammond Power Solutions Inc. is a global manufacturer headquartered in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. HPS has grown to become the leader in North America in the custom design and manufacture of dry type transformers. For the past century, HPS has grown to deliver electrical power solutions to global markets and provides solutions for complex applications like, mining, rectifier, drives, traction, wind, solar and many other electrical power applications. The world relies on HPS to continually conceive and produce state-of-the-art transformer technology. We currently have an opening for a Sr. Human Resources Generalist to join our team in Guelph.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing a variety of functions including recruitment, labour relations, benefits administration and performance management. This role is responsible for fostering a positive workplace culture and ensuring compliance with company policies. Integrity, attention to detail, strong customer service and interpersonal skills are all crucial for this role.

Specific Responsibility

  • Provide direction to Supervisors on employee issues such as attendance, misconduct, collective agreement interpretation, policy application and implementation.
  • Monitor and analyze trends and issues and identify HR’s role and responsibilities in resolving issues at pre-grievance stage.
  • Assist with research and preparation for collective bargaining negotiations.
  • Research and develop contract language for mid-term agreements, grievance settlements, memoranda / letters of understanding.
  • Research and prepare costing data for collective bargaining, including analysis of benefit trends and impact of monetary adjustments.
  • Communicate to internal stakeholders regarding Human Resources policies, procedures, legal updates, standards and regulations.
  • Conduct investigations into allegations of misconduct, performance deficiencies and / or workplace harassment and present findings
  • Administer the hourly and salaried benefits program, including auditing & processing of invoices, resolving issues, liaising between employees & service provider as required.
  • Educate employees on benefits provided by the organization.
  • Administer short-term disability and long-term disability plans.
  • Accountable for the accurate, timely updates of hourly & salaried employee information in the HRIS.
  • Assist with developing and implementing plans to improve employee engagement from the HPS Employee Engagement survey results.
  • Organize social events to increase employee engagement.
  • Full cycle recruitment for Operations (hourly & salaried)
  • Accountable for internal job posting in accordance with collective agreement.
  • Screen, interview and recommend candidates to supervisors.
  • Onboard and orient hourly employees in compliance with the Quality Policy.
  • Administer new hire survey to obtain feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Administer exit interview for hourly employees, analyze trends and themes emerging to prevent further voluntary attrition.
  • Create standard practice instruction documents to ensure employee awareness of HR programs and policies.
  • Prepare and deliver training for all employees to meet internal requirements and legislated training.
  • Maintain up to date on any relevant legislative changes.
  • Analyze current processes and recommend changes as needed.

Qualifications

Experience
