The Role
Reporting to the Manager, FIU Intake Operations, this position plays a key role in ensuring regulatory AML / ATF compliance and fraud prevention across MCAP. The incumbent will be involved in all compliance elements of the AML / ATF program, including reviewing unusual transactions, drafting suspicious transaction reports, conducting due diligence reviews, onboarding processes, and monitoring high-risk clients. Following established policies and procedures for AML / ATF and fraud detection, the role conducts advanced analysis and monitoring activities to support MCAP’s regulatory obligations and internal risk management.
- This role serves as the back-up to the Manager, FIU Intake, executing elements of that mandate as needed.
- The Sr. FIU Analyst contributes to the success of FIU Operations by supporting the team’s goals and initiatives.
- Fosters a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage MCAP’s broader systems and knowledge.
- Receives training on the Manager, Intake Operations role to support and back up responsibilities.
- Follows procedures for transaction monitoring, conducts investigations on escalated unusual activity related to AML / ATF and fraud, and determines next steps.
- Performs escalated reviews of potential sanctions cases.
- Handles ad hoc investigations assigned by the Manager, Intake Operations.
- Oversees and approves transaction monitoring, compliance audits, and high-risk client reviews.
- Investigates and dispositions high-risk cases, referring urgent cases to the Manager, FIU Investigations.
- Reviews cases involving Single Family, Commercial, or Construction clients, applying research skills and knowledge of MCAP’s products to assess AML and operational risks.
- Maintains customer due diligence reports and manages KYC audit processes.
- Prepares Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) as required.
- Conducts PEP reviews for management approval.
- Maintains case records and documentation to ensure compliance and regulatory standards.
- Contributes AML / Fraud content updates to the Policy Manual.
- Supports all MCAP lines of business with insights on escalated files.
- Identifies and recommends continuous improvement opportunities for the program.
- Participates in maintaining policies and procedures related to AML / ATF / Sanctions / Fraud.
- Keeps current with regulatory requirements to advise business partners.
- Participates in AML / ATF / Sanctions / Fraud initiatives.
- May mentor other FIU Analysts and review client exit recommendations.
- Responds promptly to requests from business units and risk functions.
- Applies MCAP’s risk appetite and culture in daily activities.

What You Bring To The Team
- Minimum 5 years in residential mortgages, focusing on fraud, money laundering, and terrorist financing detection.
- Experience with investigative techniques and financial criminal trends.
- Knowledge of FINTRAC AML / ATF regulations.
- Deep understanding of the mortgage industry and lifecycle.
- Proficiency in risk management, fraud prevention, and judicial processes.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to organize large datasets, with open-source research expertise.
- Comprehensive AML / ATF reporting knowledge.
- Familiarity with Canadian and international regulations.
- Knowledge of MCAP’s policies, procedures, and products across business lines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, PowerApps, SQL, and SharePoint.
