We push the limits of innovation to solve the world’s most important challenges—striving for execution excellence, while being direct, humble, collaborative, and inclusive of diverse perspectives. Join us as we shape the future of AI and beyond. Together, we advance your career.

THE ROLE:

Join the NBIO (Northbridge I/O) firmware team focused on developing next-generation PCIe-based I/O subsystems for SoC platforms. You will play a key role in building embedded firmware that enables connectivity IPs, I/O virtualization, and accelerator technologies across multiple programs. In this role, you will work across the full lifecycle—from architecture and pre-silicon development through post-silicon validation—partnering closely with hardware, IP, and verification teams. This is a highly collaborative position with strong ownership, visibility across global teams, and opportunities to influence development practices and tooling.

THE PERSON:

You are an experienced embedded firmware engineer with strong low-level hardware interaction expertise and a track record working on complex SoC systems. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity, debugging at the hardware/software boundary, and contributing across architecture, development, and validation. You are a proactive collaborator who can mentor junior engineers while maintaining a high bar for code quality and execution.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design and implement embedded firmware for PCIe and I/O subsystem IPs
  • Define firmware architecture in collaboration with hardware and IP design teams
  • Develop and validate firmware in pre-silicon environments (RTL simulation, emulation)
  • Support post-silicon bring-up, debug, and performance optimization
  • Debug complex HW/FW interactions and resolve system-level issues
  • Contribute to firmware frameworks, abstraction layers, and reusable codebases
  • Drive firmware development best practices, including reviews and test strategies
  • Mentor junior engineers and support technical development across the team
  • Collaborate across global teams supporting multiple concurrent SoC programs
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Strong embedded firmware development experience in C/C++ (assembly a plus)
  • Hands-on experience with PCIe (root complex, endpoints, switches) or similar high-speed interfaces
  • Solid understanding of HW/FW interfaces and low-level system architecture
  • Experience with pre-silicon development (RTL simulation, emulation, or modeling)
  • Familiarity with multi-core systems and Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS)
  • Experience with hardware abstraction layers and scalable firmware design
  • Exposure to test automation, scripting, or DevOps workflows
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments
  • Experience with post-silicon validation and debug
  • Interest or exposure to AI-driven development tools is a plus
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field preferred
LOCATION:
  • Markham, ON or Vancouver, BC
