Job Summary:
We are looking for a strategically minded, highly motivated Senior Financial Analyst who will be able to provide reliable and timely information and analysis to business leaders to guide them in the decision-making process. This role supports sales and gross margin accounting, planning, and analysis across our retail banners and channels.
Main Responsibilities:
- Work cross-functionally with the Merchandise Planning, Store Operations, Digital, Sourcing, and Logistics teams to build sales as well as margin budgets and monthly forecasts, analyze and interpret results, and drive profitability;
- Prepare and record month-end close journal entries related to cost of sales;
- Prepare monthly gross margin reconciliations;
- Update variance analysis and commentary;
- Prepare and distribute on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis, various financial reports for his or her areas of responsibility;
- Continuously monitor results, provide insights into variances, challenge business partners, and ensure that forecasts reflect the most up-to-date data to drive the business;
- Participate in process and tool improvement to increase quality, and reliability and reduce report preparation time;
- Prepare analysis and business cases using financial and non-financial data;
- Prepare and present insights based on analysis, key metrics trends and quantified risks and opportunities;
- Develop a deep understanding of major performance drivers and KPIs to support the business with regular reporting;
- Focus on financial modelling, analysis, interpretations and recommendations that support management decision-making;
- Perform other ad hoc duties and analyses as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance (a relevant professional designation, such as CPA or CFA) is a plus;
- 3-5 years of experience in a financial planning and analysis (FP&A) role in a fast-paced environment;
- Strong knowledge of business fundamentals and financial acumen;
- Ability to think strategically as well as and strong skills to drive business initiatives end-to-end and deliver insights;
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth, evolving environment;
- Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to prioritize work in a demanding environment;
- Ability to present financial results to senior management;
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in interpreting the company’s policies and objectives;
- Expert-level proficiency in MS Excel;
- Experience with an FP&A system is a plus;
- Bilingualism (French and English) is required for daily communication with employees, managers, and stakeholders both within and outside of Quebec;
