Job summary

Heroux Devtek in Canada seeks a Senior Cost Accountant to manage product costing, cost ledger maintenance, and month-end closings. You will work with the Controller and manufacturing teams to provide financial support for projects and development efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • 4-7 years accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • CPA designation is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and reviews detailed product costing and variances.
  • Maintains cost accounting systems and cost ledger.
  • Executes month-end cost accounting closures.
  • Collaborates with Controller and manufacturing teams to provide financial support for projects.
  • Manages account reconciliations and oversees Fixed Asset Module.
  • Assists in budgeting, forecasting, and audits monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Engages in internal/external audits and prepares reports like R&D, AMIS, NGOJF.
  • Prepares progress billing claims and reconciles data with Head Office.
  • Compiles monthly/ quarterly financial statements and supports 52-109 audits.

Job description

Summary Of Duties
  • Prepares and reviews detailed product costing and variances.
  • Maintains the cost accounting systems and the cost ledger.
  • Executes month-end cost accounting closures.
  • Collaborates with the Controller and manufacturing teams to provide financial support for projects and product developments.
  • Serves as the main contact for routine financial inquiries from staff and external customers.
  • Assists in financial closings, budgeting, forecasting, and audits on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Manages account reconciliations, including sales reconciliation, and oversees the Fixed Asset Module.
  • Engages in internal and external audits, including the Annual Physical Inventory count, and prepares reports such as R&D, AMIS, and NGOJF.
  • Logs and tracks scrap parts, performs cost analysis, and updates the monthly scrap report.
  • Prepares and processes standard costs for new parts, rework costs, and tool crib expenses, ensuring approvals from relevant management.
  • Conducts variance analysis, reviews PPV, and submits re-roll lists to the Controller and General Manager.
  • Prepares progress billing claims and reconciles financial data with Head Office.
  • Generates combo reports, graphs, and monthly production time analysis, ensuring all timesheets are accurately posted.
  • Compiles monthly and quarterly financial statements, assists with budget and forecast preparation, and supports external and 52-109 internal audits.
  • Job costing.
  • Ensures inventory costs are updated.
  • Ensures work is planned and executed according to schedule while maintaining high standards of quality in information handling.
  • Reconciles accounts and manages NGOF/AMIS files.
  • Supply production and program management with the essential information needed for informed decision-making.
  • Act as backup to the Controller in his/her absence.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform other duties assigned by leadership.

Compensation $90,000 - $110,000 per year based on experience.
