Canada Packers is seeking a Sr. Finance Analyst - External Reporting to support the consolidated IFRS financial statements and disclosures for a TSX-listed company. You will partner with Finance, Legal and external auditors to ensure timely, accurate reporting and robust controls.

The role requires strong IFRS knowledge, advanced Excel, and experience with consolidation and external reporting software. A CPA or progress toward one is preferred, with hybrid work options and strong growth

Responsibilities

  • Prepare quarterly and annual IFRS consolidated financial statements with notes.
  • Coordinate IFRS-based disclosures and MD&A cross-references.
  • Lead period-end close for consolidation incl. intercompany eliminations.
  • Prepare working papers and control documentation for external filings.
  • Support SEDAR+ filings and liaise with external auditors.
  • Develop accounting position memos on complex topics (IFRS, leases, revenue).
  • Contribute to internal controls over financial reporting and CEO/CFO cert.
  • Provide variance analysis and explanations for quarterly results.
  • Assist in process improvements and automation of the close and reporting cycle.

Sr. Finance Analyst - External Reporting

About This Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, External Reporting, the Sr. Finance Analyst supports the preparation of the Company’s consolidated financial statements under IFRS and its continuous disclosure obligations as a publicly listed (TSX) issuer. The role works closely with stakeholders across Finance, Legal and the external auditors to deliver accurate, timely and compliant external financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

Prepare the quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements under IFRS – including the statements of financial position, income, comprehensive income, changes in equity and cash flows – together with the related note disclosures.

Support preparation of the Management’s Discussion & Analysis (MD&A), ensuring consistency and accurate cross-referencing between the MD&A, financial statements, earnings release and investor materials.

Lead period-end close activities related to consolidation, including intercompany eliminations, closing journal entries and account reconciliations, while adhering to a tight reporting calendar.

Prepare and maintain working papers, disclosure checklists and support schedules that evidence compliance with IFRS and support the Company’s external filings.

Coordinate the quarterly and annual filing process on SEDAR+, ensuring documents are complete, accurate and filed within regulatory deadlines.

Act as a key liaison with the external auditors, preparing audit-ready support and resolving queries during quarterly reviews and the year-end audit.

Research and document technical accounting matters and assist in preparing accounting position memos (e.g., biological assets, leases, revenue recognition, financial instruments and business combinations).

Support the Company’s internal control over financial reporting and the NI 52-109 (CEO/CFO) certification process, including maintaining control documentation and performing controls testing.

Perform analytical review of results for reasonableness and prepare variance explanations to support the quarterly reporting and earnings process.

Contribute to process improvement and automation initiatives that streamline and strengthen the close and external reporting cycle.

Ensure all company financial policies, procedures and applicable accounting standards are adhered to.

Skills & Experience:

Post-Secondary Education in Accounting or Business required.

Accounting Designation is preferred or actively working towards CPA.

Experience in external / financial reporting for a publicly listed company, or audit experience from public accounting, is strongly preferred.

Working knowledge of IFRS and the continuous disclosure requirements applicable to reporting issuers.

Must have strong technical accounting knowledge (IFRS), excellent systems and analytical skills, and advanced Excel skills.

Demonstrated personal leadership.

Strong attention to detail.

Strong problem-solving skills.

Excellent planning and organizational skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to present financial information to non-financial functions.

SAP ERP experience is a plus.

Experience with consolidation and/or disclosure management software (e.g., Workiva) is an asset.

Power BI and BA experience is a plus.

The expected annual compensation for this role is $81,000 - $104,000 per year. This includes base salary and eligibility for our annual incentive program. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and internal equity.
